Psychologist

Experience & approach
Angus has been working one-on-one with clients for the past six years as a counsellor and more recently as psychologist. This has included working with people from a range of backgrounds and experiences within employment service providers, universities and private practice.
Angus uses a variety of modalities but most enjoys using acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) for its focus on flexibility, values and living a meaningful life, rather than simply focussing on symptom reduction. He is also trained in eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) and favours this approach for trauma presentations, while blending a bit of schema therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and internal family systems (IFS) depending on your needs and preferences.
Angus is passionate about learning and providing the best possible support to everyone he works with so that they can live a life that is rich and meaningful to them.
The right fit
Angus is open to working with a variety of presentations including stress, sleep, mood, relationship difficulties and communication issues, but has special interests in anxiety and trauma. He also enjoys utilising short interventions on other issues that are holding people back from thriving such as handling difficult situations more effectively.
Additionally, Angus is able to work effectively with people from a range of backgrounds including those with neurodiverse brains due to his calm, warm and authentic yet professional nature.

Angus works with individuals aged 18 years and over.

On a personal note
Angus was born and raised in Tasmania but has travelled extensively and lived overseas, including a stint in the UK where he worked as a counsellor.
In his spare time, Angus is a passionate but frustrated golfer and enjoys spending time with his one-eyed ginger cat called Oliver.
